A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after a vehicle struck them at an intersection in Newark Sunday morning.
At approximately 2:25 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Lyons Avenue and Fabyan Place to investigate reports of an injured man.
Upon arrival, police found an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive man suffering severe injuries at that location.
Medical personnel administered CPR to the victim whose injuries were extensive, according to officials.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office was requested to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Police placed a tent around the victim's body on the bridge while looking into what caused the collision.
