A 77-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth this morning.
According to police, at around 10:30 a.m., a female driver was at the intersection of Elizabeth and Jefferson avenues waiting at the light when the light turned green, the driver reportedly proceeded to turn and struck the man.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and her vehicle was towed to highway garage for a further investigation.
EMS transported the man to University Hospital in Newark where he remains in critical conditions, according to police.
The driver has not been charged at this time police said.
