Police reported serious injuries in a pedestrian strike in Newark's South Ward Tuesday evening.
According to police, at approximately 8:10 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the vicinity of Miller Street and Sherman Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person.
Police and EMS arrived and found the victim suffering serious injuries after the vehicle struck then ran the person over at that location.
The injured was transported to University Hospital for treatment while police and Emergency services Unit officers attempted to control a large crowd gathered at the scene.
Newar Police officials are looking into the circumstances behind the incident.
There were no reports of arrests at this time or citations distributed at this time.
