There are serious injuries reported in an incident where a NJ Transit bus struck a person on Rt. 22 eastbound in Mountainside a short time ago.
Police and EMS responded to the 1000 block of Rt. 22, in front of the AMC Movie Theater, where they found the victim pinned under the NJ Transit bus 114 line, suffering serious injuries at around 4:30 p.m.
The victim was extricated, then handed over to EMS who made the transport to a waiting medivac helicopter.
There are heavy delays on the highway.
According to NJ Transit officials, there were no passengers aboard the bus which was traveling from Mountainside to the Port Authority Bus Terminal to start its route.
