**UPDATE 9am** This is a confirmed fatality. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office will lead the investigation.
There were severe injuries reported for a pedestrian struck by a car in Jersey City Saturday morning.
According to police, at approximately 3:50 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of 675 Sumit Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police and ENS found an unidentified person suffering injuries after a car struck them near that location.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was not at the scene when they arrived.
The victim's injuries were reported as serious.
