Newton

A 25-year-old Newton man was transported to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle.

According to police, yesterday at approximately 3:38 p.m., Newton Police received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Trinity Street, Water Street, and Mill Street.

Upon arrival, it was determined that Elisha Johnson, 30, of Newton was operating a 2005 Honda Civic and was turning right from Water Street onto Mill Street when she failed to observe pedestrian Donovan Daniels, 25, of Newton, as he walked within the crosswalk before striking him.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Daniels had the ‘Walk’ signal and was crossing Mill Street in a northbound direction at the time of the incident.

Daniels complained of pain to his right leg and was transported to the Newton Medical Center by Lakeland Emergency Squad.

Johnson was uninjured and was issued a summons for Careless Driving and Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian Within a Crosswalk.
