Pedestrian Strike Leaves 10-Year-Old Critical in Elizabeth

EMS rushed a badly injured girl to an area hospital after she was struck by a car on a street in Elizabeth this evening.

According to a brief statement released by Elizabeth City Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, the incident occurred near the intersection of North Broad Street and Fairmont Avenue before 7 p.m.

Spokeswoman Martins said a 10-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle at that location and is now in critical but stable condition as of 8:20 p.m.

Spokeswoman Martins said the driver stayed at the scene and there are no witnesses at this time.

The incident remains under investigation Martins said.
