Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle on Route 9 in Howell

FREEHOLD – A 53-year-old Freehold man died as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle along Route 9 in Howell early Saturday morning, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

The pedestrian was crossing the intersection between Route 9 and New Friendship Road, at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Saturday morning when he was struck in the southbound right lane by a 2010 Mini Cooper driven by a 21-year-old man from Jackson.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:08 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Howell Police Department.
