Somerset County law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into a pedestrian strike that caused fatal injuries in Bridgewater Township on Thursday morning.
Police say at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to reports of an injured person in the vicinity of Chimney Rock Road and Union Avenue.
Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person suffering severe injuries after a tractor-trailer struck them at that location.
According to police, medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office was notified of the fatality as police determined what caused the incident.
There were no other injuries reported.
