Authorities in Monmouth County are investigating an early-morning crash that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries Saturday, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Springwood Avenue.
Police and EMS units responded to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found an unidentified victim suffering from severe injuries.
First responders administered CPR before transporting the individual to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further treatment.
As of 4:30 a.m., officials confirmed the victim’s injuries were critical. 
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by local authorities.
