Authorities investigated a serious pedestrian crash late Sunday night that shut down Route 33 in both directions near Probasco Road in East Windsor.
According to preliminary information, police and emergency medical crews responded to the area shortly after 11 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck.
Due to the severity of the incident, advanced life support units were requested and a medical helicopter was initially placed on standby.
East Windsor Police also requested assistance from Hightstown Police and New Jersey State Police with traffic control.
The medevac request was later canceled.
At least one victim was transported by ambulance to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center with CPR reportedly in progress.
Emergency reports indicated there was a second patient, whose condition was not immediately available.
Route 33 was closed in both directions near Probasco Road while authorities conducted an investigation.
Initial emergency reports referenced a possible fatality; however, authorities had not officially confirmed a death.
Additional information regarding the identities and conditions of those involved was not immediately available.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
