Paulsboro Man Arrested for Self-Inflicted Shooting

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Zachary T. Scott, 24, of Paulsboro for a self-inflicted gunshot wound today.

Authorities say at approximately 10:45 p.m. last night, officers responded to University Hospital on a call of a person shot.

Scott told detectives that he was shot by a group of males that attempted to rob him near the intersection of Livingston and West Kinney streets.

During their investigation, detectives determined that Scott’s injuries were self-inflicted and had occurred in the area of Lincoln Street and Doby Place.

He was arrested after being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Scott is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
