Paterson Police are investigating a shooting that injured a person overnight in the city.
Officials at St. Josephs Medical Center contacted police when an unidentified person entered the emergency department suffering a gunshot wound to the hand at around 11:10 p.m.
Officers checked the 400 block of 10th Avenue after receiving reports that the incident occurred in that area. Police recovered nearly a dozen shell casings during their search of the area.
Doctors treated the injury then released the victim according to reports.
The motive for the shooting has not been released.
