Paterson Shooting Suspect Arrested in Wayne

A 25-year-old man was arrested on attempted murder charges in Wayne on Tuesday in connection with a shooting on June 18 in Paterson’s 2nd Ward, according to authorities.

The suspect, Steven Morales, is accused of shooting a 26-year-old Paterson man in the shoulder near the corner of Walnut Street and Wayne Avenue sometime around 9 p.m.

Morales is being held at the Passaic County Jail on $500,000 bail, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

He was also charged with weapons offenses, authorities said.

Police have made public few details of the shooting. It’s not clear whether the two men know each other.
