Paterson Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Another Injured on New Year’s Morning

Authorities in Passaic County are investigating a New Year’s Day shooting that left one man dead and another wounded early Thursday morning in Paterson.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray, officers responded to the area of Market Street and Memorial Drive at approximately 7:11 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
 

When officers arrived, they located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.

 

Officials said a 36-year-old Paterson man was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

 

The second victim, a 55-year-old Paterson man, remains in stable condition.

The incident remains under active investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
