A pursuit of a vehicle occupied by a suspect reportedly wanted for a carjacking in Elmwood Park earlier Monday and an armed robbery in Paterson had police apprehend one person overnight.
The incident began with an early afternoon carjacking at knifepoint of a Honda Odyssey that happen on Broadway in Elmwood Park when the suspect brandished a knife and took the vehicle from the victim.
Police sent a "be on the look out" for the vehicle to surrounding towns when officers in Paterson on the overnight tour noticed the carjacked vehicle occupied by a white male suspect near the eastbound side of Route 80 in the city at around 10:30 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle began to speed up when authorities attempted to pull the vehicle over on Market Street.
Officers were able to get the driver to stop, allowing them to place the suspect in custody on the 1000 block of Market Street.
There were no injuries reported.
