Paterson Police Officer Charged with Domestic Violence Assault

On Thursday, members of the Paterson Police Department arrested a Paterson Police Officer for alleged acts of domestic violence that occurred in the city. 

Officials said in a statement the officer has been identified as Mr. Joseph Tuminelli.

Based upon an investigation by the Paterson Police Department, Tuminelli was charged with third-degree Aggravated Assault, fourth-degree Stalking, and the petty disorderly persons offense of Harassment.

The victim will remain unidentified pursuant to the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.

The sentencing exposure for third-degree Aggravated Assault is 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison, fourth-degree Stalking is up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison, and Harassment is up to 30 days in the County Jail.

All inquiries regarding the employment status of the officer should be directed to the Paterson Police Department.
