Paterson Police Kick-Off 3rd Annual Public Safety Camp

Paterson

Captain Lourdes Phelan of the Paterson Police Department community policing unit, kicked off with Police Director Jerry Speziale, the 3rd annual public safety camp for our Paterson youth.

According to Captain Phelan, the camp is being held in West Milford at Camp Hope with the support of the Passaic Board of Chosen Freeholder's and the camp's Director Ms. Karen Sisco and her staff.

Captain Phelam said the children are bussed daily from Paterson by Passaic County transportation buses and provided breakfast and lunch by Camp Hope's staff.

Our youth will undertake some activities for the week with the program designed to build trust between the community and the police department, which will encompass crime scene processing, canine demonstrations, scavenger hunts, swimming, emergency response team operations, traffic safety and motorcycle operations.

The Passaic County Sheriff's Department will also conduct demonstrations.

"This is an outstanding program for our children and further builds trust and understanding in the community. "

"We are grateful for the county support and all involved," Captain Phelan said.
