Paterson Police Arrest 17-Year-Old in Connection to Fatal Shooting

Authorities today announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in connection with yesterday's morning shooting that killed a 43-year-old New York man and left a woman injured in Paterson.

Officers found Dennis Gillespie, of Warwick, shot dead in a Honda Civic after they were called to gunfire near Fulton and Mercer streets around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Fulton and Mercer Street around 9:45 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police found Dennis Gillespie, 43, of New York shot dead and a second victim - a woman who was not identified - suffering non-life threatening injuries inside a Honda Civic, according to police.

The unidentified woman was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.

No additional details were immediately available on the arrest. 

The investigation is ongoing.
