Paterson police are investigating a shots-fired incident that prompted a large-scale response and transformed part of a quiet neighborhood into a crime scene early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire near 34 Mary Street, alerting multiple patrol units to the location.

When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred, including several shell casings scattered across the street.

Police immediately taped off the affected area and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding community.

Despite the clear signs of gunfire, no victims or property damage were located.

The suspect remains at large, and no arrests have been reported. Authorities continue to canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and additional evidence as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
