Paterson Man Wanted for Newark Gas Station Robbery

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr. Ramon A. Mercado, 33, of Paterson, on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with an incident that occurred on Sunday, January 19.

Police say at approximately 5:30 p.m., a male approached an attendant at Fuel 4 Gas Station, located at 1126 McCarter Highway, and demanded his cash at gunpoint.

The suspect stole $800 to $900 before fleeing on foot, heading northbound on McCarter Highway.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Ramon A. Mercado as a suspect and seek the public’s help in quickly locating him as part of this investigation. He is described as 5’7” tall and 160 lbs.

Police say he has black hair and brown eyes.
