A Paterson man has been arrested in connection with the burglary of a Wayne apartment that occurred in late May, authorities announced.

According to the Wayne Police Department, officers responded to an apartment on Hinchman Avenue during the afternoon of May 27, 2026, after receiving a report of a burglary.

Responding officers discovered the apartment door had been pried open to gain entry.

Wayne detectives canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage, developing leads that indicated two men were involved in the break-in.

Police said Detective Tom Cydzik, working with assistance from the Paterson Police Department, continued the investigation over the following weeks, ultimately identifying one of the suspects.

During the early morning hours of July 14, Paterson police located and arrested Terry Tisder, 58, of Paterson, on an outstanding burglary warrant.

He was turned over to the Wayne Police Department, processed, and transported to the Passaic County Jail Intake Hub, where he is awaiting a detention hearing.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
