Police are investigating a shooting that injured a person in Paterson late Tuesday night.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter device activation that alerted cops of a shooting in the 400 block of East 18th Street around 10:50 p.m.
Police arrived and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victims were located.
While investigating the scene, St. Joseph's Hospital officials alerted authorities that a gunshot victim had entered the emergency room.
The victim reportedly told police that he did not know where the shooting occurred.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was notified and will participate in the investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
