Paterson Awarded $10K Grant to Advance Sustainability Goals, Host First Green Fair Event

Paterson

Paterson city officials and The Green Team will announce the City’s inaugural Green Fair, funded through a $10,000 grant from Sustainable Jersey.

According to The Honorable Mayor Andre Sayegh, the grant marks the City’s first competitive award from the Sustainable Jersey program, Paterson being one of only eight municipalities to win a $10,000 grant statewide.

The event's host, Sustainable Jersey, summarized Paterson’s project as an opportunity to “inspire community action on sustainability initiatives.”

Officials said the event will include tables and educational information from various “green” actors in the area, including NJ Future, City Green, Passaic River Coalition, ANJEC, The Great Swamp Watershed, PSE&G, and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension.

According to Mayor Sayegh, over 32 partners plan to host space at the event, and Green Team members will host tutorials about using at-home kits through which residents can adopt a-catch-basin or plant their own herb garden.

The event will also feature hands-on educational activities for children, face painting, artisanal vendors, and food trucks.
