The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation into a shooting that left a man severely injured in Paterson on Thursday evening.
Authorities said several rounds of gunfire erupted around 8 p.m. in the area of 66 Mercer Street. When officers arrived, they located an unidentified victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the ribs.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where he was listed in life-threatening condition.
During their investigation, police discovered that at least one bullet entered a nearby home, though no one inside was injured.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
