Police detained one person after a shots fired incident that occurred in a neighborhood in Newark overnight.
Newark Police officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of South 9th Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. where arriving officers found evidence that a shooting occurred and one person bleeding from a laceration at that location.
Police say the uncooperative male victim did not suffer a gunshot wound and reportedly refused medical attention for the apparent non-life threatening injury.
Detectives set up a crime scene where they collected shell casings and other evidence.
The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
