Overnight Shootings Injure Three in Newark

Two separate shootings that left three people shot in Newark has police investigating.

According to preliminary reports, police responded to the area of Millington Avenue and Ingraham Place after receiving reports of a crash with shots fired after 1 am. Officers arrived to find two people struck by gunfire at that location.

The pair were rushed to University Hospital where the extent of their injuries could not immediately be confirmed as of 6 am

Police found a damaged car that struck a pole with bullet holes in it reports said.

There were no arrests reported in the shooting.

In a separate incident, a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the foot entered Clara Maas Hospital before 12:30 am and prompted hospital officials to contact police.

The victim reported to authorities that he was struck on Summer Avenue at Van Wagenen Street shortly before entering the hospital.

The victim's injuries were reported as non-life threatening.
