Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and four others shot in the city overnight.
Reports of shot fired that happened at around 11 p.m. in the 100 block of Brunswick Street sent a massive police response to the 100 block of Brunswick Street where they arrived to find three victims suffering serious injuries at that location.
EMS rushed the victims to University Hospital where one of the victims, later identified as 29-year-old Bashir Edwards, was pronounced dead early this morning.
Officials said one of the victim's injuries is considered life threatening while the other was stable.
A short time later, two other victims suffering injury from gunfire that happened at the Brunswick Street location were transported by private vehicle to the hospital. One of the victims is in stable condition while a fifth victim was treated and released.
A two block long crime scene was established as police began a search for the shooter.
