Orange Housing Authority to Host Free Thanksgiving Dinner for Public Housing Residents

Orange

Representatives from the Orange Housing Authority (OHA) will enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal with more than 100 public housing residentsnext week. Dr. Walter McNeil, Executive Director of the Orange Housing, Board of Commissioners, along with a dozen other city officials, will take part in the festivity as a way of passing the tradition of family values, and offering gratitude for everything they have accomplished in the past year.

With the support of the East Ward community, OHA has been rehabilitating a neighborhood that was once riddled with violence and crime. The Thanksgiving Dinner will take place on Tuesday, November 25 at 3 p.m. at their Washington Manor Community Room, located at 340 Thomas Boulevard.

The Orange Housing Authority provides quality and affordable housing for low-and-moderate income families.  While it’s small in size, compared to other Housing Authorities across the State of New Jersey, the OHA is having a major impact in the East Ward. OHA offers 250 residences, 642 “Section 8” vouchers, 114 tax credit units and is constructing 42 more.

The public agency works year-round to support the community through such events as the annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
