Authorities in Elizabeth are investigating an early morning shooting Thursday that left one person injured in an area where another shooting occurred earlier this week.

According to preliminary information, police responded to reports of gunfire around 2:25 a.m. on October 29, near 524 Morris Avenue.

Emergency responders transported one person to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. The extent of the victim’s injuries has not been confirmed.

The shooting occurred near the location of a separate shooting reported earlier this week. However, authorities have not established whether the two incidents are connected.

The circumstances surrounding Thursday morning’s shooting remain unclear, and no information regarding possible suspects or arrests was immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional details are expected as authorities release further information.
