One Injured in Early Morning Newark Shooting

Police searched a Newark South Ward community for shell casings and other evidence after a shooting left a man injured early this morning.

The victim reportedly entered University Hospital suffering a gunshot injury shortly before 4 a.m. prompting officials to contact authorities.

Cops found evidence of a shooting in the 30's block of Johnson Avenue but are determining if the victim was injured at that location.

The victim's injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

Police are investigating a motive for the shooting.

There were no arrests reported.
