Police in Newark are investigating an overnight shooting that erupted inside a bar in the city's Ironbound section that left one person injured.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the 100 block of Lafayette Street at Bruen Street (Allondra's Bar) shortly before 11:45 p.m. where arriving officers located the victim struck in the chest by gunfire.
EMS rushed the conscious and alert victim to University Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police searched the area around the bar and as far as Penn Station for a suspect who fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
The motive for the shooting has not been released at this time.
There were no reports of arrests.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
