Ocean County to Hold Virtual Town Hall to Address Police Accountability

Ocean County

Ocean County officials have announced that on July 22 at 6:00 p.m., the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office will be hosting a Virtual Town Hall entitled “Moving Forward - A Conversation on Law Enforcement and Community Policing.”

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has asked the 21 County Prosecutors of New Jersey to organize quarterly public events to discuss issues relevant to community policing in the 21st century.

The goal of the project is to strengthen relationships between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve – and to address areas of concern before conflicts arise.

The Virtual Town Hall will be streamed live. Prosecutor Billhimer will be joined by members from police departments in Ocean County, as well as representatives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Additionally, community members from churches and schools in Ocean County will also be in participating in this live event.

The panel will be discussing social justice, use of force, police accountability and professionalism, police training, and internal affairs investigations.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate by submitting questions and watching the live stream on July 22.

The Virtual Town Hall conversation will be streamed live [**HERE**](https://ocponj.gov/21-21/).

The community is encouraged to submit questions to the panel [**HERE**](https://ocponj.gov/21-21/) or by sending them to communityquestions@co.ocean.nj.us.
