Authorities said the charges stem from an extensive 29-month investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the River Edge Police Department.

The investigation began on Dec. 23, 2023, when River Edge Police responded to a report of an armed carjacking in a parking lot on Grand Avenue.

Prosecutors said three male suspects approached a victim’s vehicle, forcibly removed him from the driver’s seat at gunpoint, and repeatedly struck him in the head with a firearm while demanding the vehicle’s keys.

The suspects then entered the vehicle and fled before officers arrived.

Following a lengthy investigation, detectives identified the suspects as Jaden Noboa, 20, of New York City, and two other New York City residents who were 16 and 17 years old at the time of the incident.

On March 31, 2026, juvenile delinquency complaints were filed against both former juveniles, charging them with first-degree carjacking, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and three counts of aggravated assault.

Authorities said the former 16-year-old suspect was located in New York City on May 9, 2026, with assistance from the New York City Police Department.

He was extradited to Bergen County on May 26 and is currently being held at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Facility pending further proceedings in Family Court.

The second former juvenile, who was 17 at the time of the crime, has not been located. Prosecutors said his whereabouts remain unknown, and he is considered a fugitive.

Criminal charges were also filed against Noboa on March 31, 2026. He faces first-degree carjacking, weapons offenses, and three counts of aggravated assault.
