Non-Life Threatening Injuries for Victim of Newark Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that caused injuries to one person in a Newark neighborhood overnight.

According to Newark Police officials, officers responded to a ShotsSpotter activation in the 800 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue before 2:45 p.m. where they arrived to find the victim struck by bullets at that location.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Police canvassing the area found several shell casings and other evidence.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

There were no other injured victims.
