EMS transported a male victim to University Hospital suffering a gunshot injury that occurred in Newark's South Ward last night.
Police responded to the area of Goodwin and Shephard Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired that rang out in the area.
Units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder according to reports.
The victim was treated for his injuries by doctors as police launched an investigation into who fired the weapon that caused the wound.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
