Newark Police officials are looking into a shooting incident that sent one person to the hospital on Wednesday night in the city.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 600 block of South 12th Street after they received reports of shots fired at around 11:50 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the buttocks according to reports. The victim was only identified as a woman and was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
The motive for the shooting has not been released.
There were no arrests reported.
