Authorities have not released an official statement in a shooting that reportedly caused fatal injuries on Route 120 in East Rutherford Sunday evening.
According to on-scene information, which is preliminary, NJ State Police were observed searching a dark-colored vehicle closer to the NJ Transit station on NJ-120 which appeared to be the aftermath of an incident where gunfire rang out striking two victims around 9:20 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicated that one of those victims suffered fatal injuries at the scene while EMS transported the other person to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
NJ State Police have not officially confirmed any arrests or if the incident involves a police officer firing their weapon during the incident.
Police have not immediately said if the incident originated at the American Dream Mall at this time.
As of 4:30 a.m. Monday, NJ-120 southbound near Route 3 remained closed for the active and ongoing investigation.
