An Ocean Township community is mourning the loss of a longtime educator and devoted community member after authorities charged her husband with her murder.

According to court records, Michael A. Kless, 67, of Ocean Township, has been charged with first-degree murder, along with third- and fourth-degree weapons offenses, in connection with the death of his wife, Stacy Epstein-Kless.
Officials said Epstein-Kless was found dead inside the couple’s home on Seward Drive in Ocean Township on Wednesday.
Ocean Township Mayor John P. Napolitani Sr. described Epstein-Kless as a “kind-hearted” and “loving” person who made a lasting impact on the community.
A graduate of Ocean Township High School’s Class of 1979, Epstein-Kless later dedicated part of her career to serving students as an educator in the Township of Ocean School District.
Mayor Napolitani said she was well known for her compassion, love of animals, and willingness to help others.
In addition to caring for her own pets, she frequently walked dogs for local residents and remained actively involved in community activities.
In a message shared Wednesday, the mayor reflected on the profound loss felt throughout the township, noting that Epstein-Kless touched the lives of many residents through both her professional and personal contributions.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
Michael Kless is being held pending further court proceedings.
