NJ Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder of Three-Year-Old Child

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald has confirmed the arrest of Alfonsina Anguita, 21, of Manville, on charges related to the attempted murder of a three-year-old child.Real EstateOn December 12, 2023, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was called to a local hospital following the admission of a three-year-old child displaying severe signs of physical abuse and strangulation.

Officials said a comprehensive medical examination unveiled clear signs of child abuse, including specific marks and patterns consistent with strangulation.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit conducted interviews and learned that the child sustained these injuries while under the care of Alfonsina Anguita.

This led to an extensive joint investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Manville Police Department.

The investigation culminated on December 21, 2023, with the arrest of Anguita in Somerville.

She faces serious charges, including 1st-degree Attempted Murder and 2nd-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Following her arrest, Alfonsina Anguita was placed in the Somerset County Jail, where she awaits a detention hearing related to these grave allegations.
