A Bergen County woman has been charged with distributing large quantities of methamphetamine following a federal investigation, according to information released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal authorities said Brittany Malsch, 38, of Garfield, is charged with possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.
She made her initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jessica S. Allen in federal court in Newark and was ordered detained pending further proceedings.
According to court documents, the investigation into Malsch began as early as December 2025, when law enforcement received information alleging she was distributing methamphetamine from a hotel room in Fairfield.
After confirming Malsch was staying at the hotel, investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant for the room.
During the search, authorities said they recovered multiple bags containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug packaging materials, and approximately $1,720 in cash.

If convicted, Malsch faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison, a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, and a fine of up to $10 million.
