According to NJ Transit officials, the incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. when Morris & Essex Line train 6641—en route from New York Penn Station to Dover—struck an adult male just west of the station.

The train had departed New York at 4:15 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 5:30 p.m. when the collision occurred.

Authorities said the individual, identified as a trespasser on the tracks, remained conscious following the impact and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No injuries were reported among the approximately 800 passengers and crew members aboard the train.

As a result of the incident, Morris & Essex Line and Gladstone Branch rail service experienced delays of up to 60 minutes in both directions as crews worked at the scene.
