NJ Transit Police Probe Fatal Pedestrian Incident on Pascack Valley Line

New Jersey Transit Police are currently investigating a tragic incident where an adult female pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Bergen County on Saturday.Ice CreamThe accident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. near the New Bridge Landing station in River Edge.

Pascack Valley Line train 2118, which had departed from Spring Valley at 4:05 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 5:20 p.m., was involved in the incident.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the 120 passengers or the train crew on board.

Following the incident, rail service on the Pascack Valley Line was temporarily halted in both directions between Spring Valley and Anderson Street. However, services have since been resumed.

As the investigation continues, New Jersey Transit police are taking the lead in understanding the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
