A Honduran national living in Atlantic City has been sentenced to more than 14 years in federal prison after admitting to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it, according to information released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Diogenes Galvez, 21, of Atlantic City, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Renée Marie Bumb in Camden federal court.
Galvez previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
The court imposed a sentence of 175 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to federal authorities, members of the Atlantic City Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant at Galvez’s residence on September 27, 2023.
During the search, investigators recovered methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and other controlled substances.
Authorities also seized a loaded semiautomatic handgun with a defaced serial number and nearly $5,000 in cash.
Federal prosecutors said Galvez had prior convictions involving multiple firearms offenses before possessing the drugs and firearm recovered during the search.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, according to a statement released by U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer.
