An Atlantic City man has admitted to robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint and firing a shot into the victim’s cab during his getaway, authorities announced.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Davidson Dominique, 25, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty on Thursday, July 9, 2026, to second-degree robbery and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose before Superior Court Judge Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a five-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison on the robbery conviction, requiring Dominique to serve 85% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole under the No Early Release Act.

He will also receive a concurrent five-year sentence on the firearm conviction, with three-and-a-half years of parole ineligibility under the Graves Act.

Authorities said the incident occurred on April 28, 2025, after an Atlantic City Police officer was flagged down by a taxi driver who reported being robbed and shot at near Route 30 and New Jersey Avenue.

Investigators determined the victim had picked up Dominique at Ocean Casino before driving him to a requested destination.

Upon arrival, Dominique allegedly pointed a handgun at the back of the driver’s head and demanded money. The victim surrendered $100 and his cellphone.

Prosecutors said Dominique then exited the taxi and attempted to flee.

When the taxi driver tried to follow him, Dominique allegedly fired a single shot into the taxi’s windshield, striking the passenger side.

Dominique is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date.
