A Camden man with an extensive felony criminal history has been convicted in federal court of illegally possessing a loaded firearm, according to information released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.

Federal prosecutors announced that a jury found 42-year-old Michael Webb of Camden guilty on June 18 of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition following a trial before U.S. District Judge Edward S. Kiel in Camden. Webb is scheduled to be sentenced on October 28.
According to evidence presented during the trial, members of the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force were assisting Colorado authorities in May 2024 with locating and arresting Webb on a warrant alleging he violated the conditions of his parole.
Investigators said Task Force officers located Webb near 34th and Rowe streets in Camden on May 13, 2024. After officers observed Webb leave a residence and drive away, they attempted to stop his vehicle.
Prosecutors said Webb fled, crashed into a parked vehicle, and continued running on foot through private property while jumping fences.
During the chase, Webb allegedly pointed a firearm at a Camden resident before continuing to flee.
Authorities said the pursuit ended when Webb became trapped at a black metal gate he was unable to climb.
He was taken into custody, and officers recovered a fully loaded silver revolver in the grass on the opposite side of the gate. Prosecutors said DNA evidence linked Webb to the firearm.
Federal authorities also noted that Webb has 14 prior felony convictions, including a 2021 conviction in Colorado for a bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury and aggravated assault with firearms convictions in Camden in 2017 and 2019.
Because of his prior felony convictions, Webb was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
He now faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 when he is sentenced later this year.
