Authorities in Ocean County announced that on October 23, James Vavra, 74, of Point Pleasant Borough, was charged with Possession of Explicit Materials Involving Minors.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer stated this investigation was the result of a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The ICAC Task Force received a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual was uploading Explicit Materials Involving Minors to the internet, OCPO officials say.
According to Ocean County officials, an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad identified an IP address associated with a Point Pleasant Borough residence as the location from which the individual was uploading Explicit Materials Involving Minors from the internet.
That individual was ultimately identified as Vavra, OCPO officials stated.
Ocean County officials said on October 23, Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad, Point Pleasant Borough Police Department, and Ocean County Regional SWAT Team executed a court-authorized search warrant on Vavra’s residence, where several electronic devices were seized.
A forensic examination of those devices by the Ocean County High Tech Crime Squad discovered several items of Explicit Materials Involving Minors, Ocean County authorities say.
OCPO officials said Vavra was taken into custody at the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.
