A Hackensack man has been arrested after authorities said a child was revived from an apparent fentanyl overdose inside a Bergen County residence over the Memorial Day weekend.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that Oluwatobi “Tobi” A. Bamisile, 34, of Hackensack, is charged with three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
According to officials, Hackensack Police and firefighters responded to a private residence around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, for a medical emergency involving a child who was found unresponsive.
First responders immediately began life-saving efforts and administered naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, which is used to reverse opioid overdoses.
Authorities said the child was successfully revived and transported to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.
Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit joined Hackensack Police in launching an investigation into the incident.
The investigation revealed that Bamisile allegedly possessed pills containing fentanyl inside the residence and left them in an area accessible to children.
Prosecutors said two additional children also came into contact with the pills, and one child briefly ingested a pill before quickly spitting it out.
Bamisile was arrested Tuesday, May 26, and remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.

Authorities have not released additional information about the condition or ages of the children involved.
