Police in Bergen County arrested a 21-year-old Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck student after a police search of his dorm room on Tuesday turned up a handgun and a magazine loaded with nearly a dozen bullets.

Police said Mr. Kawan Joseph, a hotel and restaurant tourism major at the college, faces several charges, including two counts of second-degree weapons possession, one count of third-degree possession of a firearm at an educational institution, possession of a large capacity magazine and domestic violence charges.

It is not clear why Joseph was in possession of the weapon at this time.

A spokesman for the university said he was unable to comment on the incident immediately.I
