Newark's Only Girls AAU Basketball Team Scores Big in Kentucky Tournament

Newark

Congratulations to Coach Joe Owens and the young ladies of the Team Heat Lightning of Newark for their championship win in the U15 category in Louisville Kentucky on Saturday.

The Run for the Roses tournament featured teams and talent from around the country squaring off in the tournament that lasted three days.

According to tournament officials in Kentucky, The Run for Roses Classic has taken over the South Wing. "Everything under one roof. You can't beat that," said one of the event coordinators, Chartrael Hall.

There are 66 courts under one roof at the South Wing. Teams from all over the country, including former U of L star, Pervis Ellison's squad have come to town for one of the largest girls A-A-U Tournament's in state history thanks in large part to former Manual and Bellarmine star, Chartrael Hall.

Representing the Newark team in the competition were Tiara Mahorn, Lexis Rodriguez, Briana Lee, Joscelyn Williams, Saja Alston, Terrae Lewis, Quanajah Felder, Karisma Lewis, Amalia Carlson, and Darlene Bazil.

Congratulations ladies from all of us here on the RLS Metro Breaking Weekend Crew.
